WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- The Food and Drug Administration said Monday a video featuring Pfizer Inc.’s (PFE) erectile dysfunction drug Viagra violated the agency’s advertising rules.
In a warning letter dated April 16, the FDA said a video advertisement that appeared on CNN.com failed to disclose “any risk information associated with Viagra.” The letter was posted Monday to the agency’s Web site. The agency said it viewed the video on CNN’s Web site on March 16.
“The video raises public health and safety concerns through its complete omission of risk information for Viagra by suggesting that Viagra is safer than has been demonstrated.”
